Mua Gets It Wrong On Foreign-Flagged Vessels
Fri, Jun 1 2007

SNIPPET: The Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) is wrong to argue the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) trade can not be carried by foreign-flagged vessels because of environmental sensitivity, according to the Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport and Regional Services, De-Anne Kelly. Mrs Kelly said all foreign-flagged vessels entering Australian ports were targeted by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) on a risk-managed basis to ensure they met world-best standards for safety and environmental outcomes. She said this applied to any vessels taking on the LNG trade.
